WILL SEEFRIED is a writer, filmmaker, and co-founder of Emmy-nominated production company, Wolflight.
His debut feature LILIES NOT FOR ME (2024) is a period romance spiraling into psychological horror as two young men turn to a risky procedure to cure themselves of their forbidden feelings for one another.
The film stars two-time BAFTA-winner Robert Aramayo & Fionn O’Shea, won the Prix Du Jury at Univerciné following its premiere in competition at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and was released theatrically across Europe. Reviews described the film as “A welcome addition to the canon of queer period dramas” (Little White Lies) and “An idyllic spell of erotic romance” (ScreenDaily), but for more thrilling discourse — someone named izzy gave the film five stars and said “whoever made this film is going to hell” — check out Letterboxd.
Will’s short film HOMESICK (2022) is an absurdist thriller about an unhappy man who goes to a mysterious retreat that offers adults a second chance at a happy childhood. It premiered at SXSW and won the Short of the Year Audience Award. The film was featured as a Vimeo Staff Pick, Short of the Week, and won its category at the Oscar-qualifying festival Hollyshorts. Critics described it as “Dark, Brilliant, and Disturbing!” (PopHorror) and “Absurd, melancholy, and uncomfortable in all the best ways” (Advocate).
Before moving behind the camera, Will studied acting at NYU/Tisch (MFA, BFA) and originated roles in works by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Sarah Ruhl, and in Punchdrunk’s SLEEP NO MORE. These formative years in the downtown theater scene are the root of his love for working with actors, and his fascination with how spectacle unlocks intimacy with an audience.
He currently has two series in development with global streamers and is prepping his sophomore feature.
